A Walk Along Laguna Beach/Chad E. Briggs 'Health Insurance' Tips From The Man On The Street: Day 1--Walking
Health Tips Your Congress Won’t Talk To You About: Walking
These health tips aren’t generated to give medical advice, heal, cure, prevent illness, dis-ease or any thing else that I may have forgotten to mention here.
I am living my life in the 21st century like all of us and I would like to contribute something a day, that you could do for your health from a layman’s perspective. Stuff that is simple, easy and in some small or big way could make a positive impact on your life. That is my intent.
Consider these health tips a tenet of your activated ‘health care plan’ through the cycle of everyday living. We face at times, what seems the insurmountable pressures and stress of daily life. Having to get it all done yesterday ranks #1 on most people’s list. I know it is on mine and on my mind.
With that said, let us get those voices out of our heads and do something now. Remember the power ’6 degrees’ can have. Turn left instead of right. Say yes instead of no. Think about the simple things that have made a difference in your life. Health tips that can extricate you from the doldrums of daily living.
WALKING. First think of those who can’t walk, for instance those who move throughout the world in wheelchairs or less. I have seen people who are crippled and can’t move, and have been left on the steps of temples. Take a lesson from their fortitude, pain and courage–and get out in the world and live your life.
1—Think of the above when you think don’t have time to take a 20 minute walk. A 1/2 hour of moderate walking a day can add as much as 10 years to your life!
2—Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Even if it’s one flight, even if its 3 steps.
3—Don’t take the first parking space. Park a ‘block’ away when you are out running errands.
4—Walk the longest way around your desk. Walk to the farthest drinking fountain at work.
5—Whenever walking can be the option. Walk.
Check out About.com’s incredible information on the benefits of walking. There is more information below than you ever wanted to know about walking. But, go walking first!
You matter, Chad.
